Clara Mae Kinder, 86, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Bragg City, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Monticello House in Jackson.
Born Oct. 27, 1921, in Bragg City, daughter of the late James Williams and LaNora Maye Goss Williams, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bragg City and she owned a retail grocery store. Her whole life was spent being a Good Samaritan to many in her small hometown in the Bootheel. She lived the Golden Rule.
In November of 1936, she married J.W. "Buster" Kinder, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her oldest child, Shirley Ann Baum Greene in 1999; her oldest grandchild, Kevin Baum in 2007; four brothers, Tom, Grady, Buck and B.H., and two sisters, Eldean and Trina.
Survivors include one son, Tony Kinder, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Sherry Inman and husband, Kenny, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; grandchildren, Tony's daughters, Regina and Christy Leigh of the Springfield area, Sherry and Kenny's three children, Kyla and Kim of Pflugerville, Texas and Keith and his wife, Nancy of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and granddaughter Terri Lynn of Virginia, who is Shirley's daughter; seven grandchildren blessed her life with 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnnie Williams and wife, Helen, of Maryland, and other relatives and many friends. She helped raise one of her special nieces, Vicki Kinder Bonnett.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
