Esthelee Slaughter

Esthelle Slaughter, 86, of Selmer, Tenn., formerly of Rives, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer.

Daughter of the late Gus and Emma Choate Markham, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She married Carl Slaughter, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Celo; one sister, Martha Ashley; two brothers, J.D. and Seldon Markham and a grandson, Charles Slaughter, Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Faye Martin and husband, Hugh, of Stantonville, Tenn., and Martha Sue Hubbell and husband, Tom, of Mapleton, Ill.; five sons, Travis Slaughter and wife, Brenda, of Southaven, Miss., Newton Slaughter and wife, Amy, of Colona, Ill., Marvin Slaughter and wife, Lawonna, of Little Rock, Ark., Jimmy Slaughter and wife, Linda, of Adamsville, Tenn., and Marty Slaughter and wife, Joyce, of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Melvin Markham and wife, Gail and Travis Markham and wife, Bonnie, all of Glenwood, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Lottie Markham, of Amity, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville, Miss., with Bro. Tom Hubbell and Bro. Hugh Martin officiating.

Burial was in the East Prentiss Cemetery.
