Edith Mitchell, 87, of Forsyth, Mo., formerly of the Missouri Bootheel, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab.
Born May 18, 1920, in Conway, Ark., daughter of the late Jess and Mary Townsend Harlen, she was a member of the Rives General Baptist Church in Rives, Mo.
On July 16, 1934, in El Paso, Ark., she married Esley Mitchell, who preceded her in death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include four daughters, Erma Snedeker and husband, Dean, of Big Rock, Ill., Faye Phillips and husband, Charlie, of Rockaway Beach, Mo., Bonnie Schanda and husband, Ed, of Forsyth and Glenda Coleman and husband, Ronnie, of Hornersville, Mo.; one son, Vann Mitchell and wife, Linda, of Ava, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Whelchel Funeral Home in Forsyth.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Whelchel Funeral Home Chapel.
