Betty Luther, 82, of White Oak, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born July 26, 1925, in White Oak, daughter of the late Orville Hampton Overall and Ann Grissom Overall, she was a life long member of the White Oak community and was actively involved in the daily operation of the family farm. She was very proud that she and her husband A.L. were able to maintain both the original Overall and Luther farmland. She was a life long member of the Varner River Baptist Church.
On Jan. 25, 1946, in Jonesboro, Ark., she married A.L. Luther, Jr., who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Luther Carr and husband, William Albert Carr, of White Oak; two granddaughters, Brittany Carr Huskey and husband, Jason, of Hillsboro, Mo., and Michelle Carr Russell and husband, Barry, of Southaven, Miss., and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Ann Huskey and Michael Reid Russell.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 7, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Harold Dunbar and Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Lanny Watson, Kevin Cunningham, Carroll King, Donald "Corky" Luther, Jim McElwrath, Quinton Luther and Gary Beckstend.
Honorary pallbearers were C. M. Smith, Carol Moore, Maurice Wallace, Jim Akers, Bud Sweeney, and Henry Broglin.
Memorials may be made to the Varner River Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
