Ester Dorris Harper Moore, 63, of Springfield, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 in Springfield.
Born April 9, 1944 in Braggadocio, Mo., daughter of the late Will O. and Anna B. Harper, she was educated at Central High School at Hayti, Mo., and graduated from Internal Business College Jan. 12, 1987. She completed Stratford Career Institute as a legal assistant graduating in Feb. 2005. She worked as a youth counselor for VISTA and was a factory worker at Brown Shoe Co. and a cook in El Paso, Texas. She was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church at Deering.
Survivors include one son, Lorenva Sykes, of Springfield; four sisters, Martha Harper of Hayti, Odie Thomas, of St. Louis, Jeannie Harper Longwith, of Marshfield, Mo. and Flora Harper, of Springfield; five brothers, Joe Harper, of Germany, James Harper of Sikeston, Mo., Johnny Harper of Killeen, Texas and Roger Harper of Nixa, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Faye Sykes.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 in the Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Hayti Heights, Mo., with the Rev. Leo King officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in the Concord Community North of Hayti.
Pallbearers were Ashley, Roger and Terry Harper, James Harper Lewis, Roy Presberry Jr. and O'Neal Davis.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy and Leshay Harper and Roderick Presberry.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of services.
