As of Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, area cities and their filing status include:
* Arbyrd -- No one available for comment.
* Cardwell -- Clerk Dawn Farrar said no one has filed for either of the two positions which include, one south ward, and one north ward alderman seat.
* Holcomb -- No one available for comment.
* Hornersville -- City Clerk Penny McLarty said Johnny Van Nunnery and Chief Carl Pierce have both filed for Chief of Police. Glen Burress has filed for south ward alderman. The city has a south ward alderman, two-year term and a south ward one-year term available. It also has a north ward alderman seat with a two-year term available.
* Kennett -- Clerk Brenda Privett said Kennett has had a few to file with Incumbent James "Jingo" Cole filing in hope of being re-appointed to his seat, serving the residents of Ward 2. Incumbent Tony Crawford filed again for Ward 3, and Incumbent Tracy Smith filed again for Ward 5.
* Senath -- Clerk Kathy Morgan said as of Friday, Incumbent Bud Brooks has been the only one to file for a seat. Brooks is looking to get reappointed to his seat as north ward alderman. There is also a south ward alderman seat with a two-year term to be filled.
The voters of Senath will also get the chance to determine whether or not the city council and mayor get to appoint a marshall or if they would rather leave it up to the voters to decide each election.
Candidates can file for a seat through 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008.
