Virginia Capps

Virginia Crider Capps, 97, of Evansville, Ind., died Monday, Dec. 3, at the Evansville Protestant Home.

Born Dec. 20, 1909, in Hayti, Mo., daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Green and Mary Betsy Faris Crider, she graduated from Caruthersville High School in Caruthersville, Mo. She was a teacher in Pemiscot County and in Evansville. She was a member of the Evansville Retired Teachers Association, the National Education Association, the American Retired Persons Society, the Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville and she attended the Trinity Methodist Church in Evansville.

She married Ralph Capps, who preceded her in death in 1988.

Survivors include her in-laws, Norman Meredith, Virginia Lee and Juanita Capps.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville with the Rev. Paul Currie officiating.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
