Roy Elam, Jr.

Roy Francis Elam, Jr., 81, of Gideon, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at his residence.

Born July 23, 2007, at Gideon, son of the late Roy F. Elam, Jr., and Gertrude Vevla McCormick Elam, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII. He was a member of the VFW in Gideon, Masonic Lodge in Kennett and Clarkton and a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.

On May 13, 1947, in Paragould, Ark., he married Dorothy James, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, Roy Christopher Elam and wife, Judy, of Loretta, Tenn.; one daughter, Victoria Lynn Brodrick and husband, Roger, of Welsh, La., and three grandchildren, Brent Elam, of Loretta, Kendra Mesche, of Lake Charles, La., and Khara Brodrick, of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Hudson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden, Mo. with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.
