Born Jan. 9, 1947, in White Oak, Mo., son of the late Floyd and Ruby Fredrick Simms, he was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include one son, David Simms and wife, Angela; one daughter, Lynn Marlow and husband, James, of Campbell, Mo.; four grandchildren, James Anthony Russell, of Cilo, Mich., Dillon Christian Simms and Jacob Lee Simms, both of Kennett and Ashlee Denise Marlos, of Campbell; five brothers, Thomas Simms, of North Port, Ala., Jessie Simms, of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., Louis Simms, of Campbell, Jimmy Simms, of Holcomb, Mo., and Jackie Simms, of Mena, Ark., and two sisters, Elsie Hagar, of Holcomb and Paula Faye Brown, of Glennie, Mich.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Allen Simms and one sister, Beth Collins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Friday, Nov. 30, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Charles Avants officiating.
Burial was in the Wardell Memorial Cemetery.
