Luella Ross

Luella Ross, 89, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at her residence.

Born May 3, 1918, in Sheppard, Ark., daughter of the late Cornelius and Ophelia Jackson, she was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Caruthersville.

She married Anthony Jarvis, who preceded her in death. In 1962, she married Tommy Edward Ross, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded her in death by one son, Anthony Jarvis and one sister, Mamie Payne.

Survivors include three children, Louise Grant and husband, Andres and Oba Jean Holloway and husband, E.C., all of Chicago and Josie Jarvies, of Caruthersville; step-children, Jessie, Tommy Edward, Jr., Eva Mae Beck, May Agnes, Flyndol Ross, William Nels, Dorothy Jean Horton, John Edwards, Dora Lee, Gloria Stine and Roy Donnell; two sisters, Leester Holmes, of Caruthersville and Cordia Johnson, of Chicago; 22 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. J.T. Spicer officiating.

Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
