Betty Rayburn Ray, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the Woodhaven Care Center in Monroeville, Pa.

Born Jan. 15, 1929, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of the late Harry and Kitty Capshaw Rayburn, she employed at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Wilmerding, Pa.

On Dec. 22, 1951, in Clarkton, Mo., she married the Rev. Howard Ray, who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Nancy Ray, of Caruthersville, Mo., and Carol Erickson, of Porterville, Calif.; one sister, Mary Rush Fortner, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and two grandchildren, Leslie and Adam Erickson, both of Caruthersville.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Ray and one sister, Kathryn Weldon Fortner.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Paul Fortner, Christian and Gordon Matlock, Allen Ward, Nick Robertson and Adam Erickson.
