James Bernard Hawkins, 76, of Senath, Mo., died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Senath Nursing Center.

Born July 7, 1931, in Batesville, Ark., he was the son of the late James and Viola Young Hawkins.

On July 4, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., he married Barbara Burgess, who survives.

Survivors also include three sons, Mike Hawkins, of Oxford, Miss., Rick Hawkins, of Springfield, Mo., and Shane Hawkins and wife, Maria, of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Bill Hawkins, of Senath and Danny Hawkins, of St. Charles, Mo.; one sister, Judy Knox, of Bartlett, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Burton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath with the Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating.

Burial was in the Lulu Cemetery at Senath.

Pallbearers were Bill Hawkins, Danny Hawkins, Tim Payne, Howard Burton, Jeff Damron and Josh Payne.
