Mary Shielly

Mary Francis Shielly, 89, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at Greenville Healthcare in Greenville, Mo.

Born Dec. 9, 1917, in Steele, daughter of the late William and Alli Curtis Copeland, she was employed at South Pemiscot School system and a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele.

On Jan. 29, 1939, in Blytheville, Ark., she married B.H. Shielly, Jr., who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kermit, Wayne and Earl Copeland; two sisters, Reba Arnold and Helen Matthews and one grandson, Danny Bryan.

Survivors include one son, Joe Wayne Shielly and wife, Carolyn, of Escondido, Calif.; one daughter, Brenda Heidemann and husband, Ed, of Patterson, Mo.; one sister, Margaret Reid, of Ashtabula, Ohio; three grandsons, Dennis Bryan, of Escondido, Dale Bryan, of St. Louis, Mo., and Wayne Edward Shielly, of Germantown, Tenn., and nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kevin, Colton and McKenzie Bryan, all of California, Daniel Bryan, of Steele, Kristen Fowler and Eric Bohr, of Rector, Ark., Dannielle Brammer, of Paducah, Ky., and Justin Taynor, of Watertown, N.Y.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with the Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.

Pallbearers were Kris Robinson, Nogi and Randy McDaniel, Victor Burton, Bill Lewis and Ed Heidemann.

Honorary pallbearers were Mitchell Fisher, Lee Bryan, Joe Gallaher and Willie D. McDaniel.
