Frances Elizabeth Ross Chailland, 88, of Kennett, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2007, at National Healthcare in Kennett.

Born April 12, 1919, at Caruth, Mo,. daughter of the late Ottie Rayburn and Flora Elizabeth Stafford Ross, she was a 1936 graduate of Hornersville High School and a member of the Caruth Methodist Church,

On March 15, 1936, in Paragould, Ark., she married Jessie Olin Chailland, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2003. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Janet Sue Clark and Celesta Jane Chailland; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Elaine Chailland; three brothers, Harry, Burl and Don Ross; and one sister, Marie Medley.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Tom Chailland and wife, Martha, of Kennett, Freddie Joe Chailland and wife, Cindy, of Hector, Ark. and Frankie Loys Chailland and wife, Terry, of Tupelo, Miss.; two daughters, Betsy Jean Walls and husband, Gary, of Kennett and Nancy Lynn Nichols of Kennett; one brother, Rayburn Ross of Kennett; three sisters, Verna Lee Fee, of Jefferson City, Mo., Flora Ann Huskey, of Neosho, Mo. and Mary Jo Ellis, of Kennett, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Tom Chailland Jr., of Jonesboro, Ga., Barbara Dale and Teresa Culver, both of Bremen, Ga., Steve Chailland, of Austell, Ga., Gary Walls Jr., of Dauphin Island, Ala., Jack Jr., and Chris Clark, both of Knoxville, Tenn., Julie Clark, of Alexandria, La., Deborah Jean Miller, of West Plains, Mo., Jason Chailland Nichols, of Hornersville, Mo., Courtney Jane Chailland, of Tupelo, Miss., and Jeremy Mink and Emily Bradley, both of Hector; 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Jim Pemberton officiating.

Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery at Caruth, Mo.

Pallbearers were Gary Clinton Walls, Jr., Jerry Tom Chailland, Jr., Dr. Jack Crowley Clark,, Jr., Clinton A. Morgan, Terry Chailland, David Ross and Jason Chailland Nichols.
