Mary Virginia Cope of Kennett, 97, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at New Madrid, Mo.

Born Sept. 9, 1910, in Eminence, Mo., daughter of the late Dr. Edwin Grey and Hattie Jane Cope, she was a teacher in Dell, Ark. and Senath-Hornersville Schools. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornersville, Mo.

On March 17, 1934, in Hornersville, she married Charles Parker Kennett, who preceded her in death in July of 1986. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin Glass Cope and Ralph Rynard Cope and one sister, Alma Jane Cope.

Survivors include one daughter, Janey Lee Kennett, of New Madrid; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lee Ash and Julie Elizabeth Kolwyck, both of New Madrid and two great-grandchildren, Camille Elizabeth and Meredith Grey Ash, both of New Madrid.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at the United Methodist Church in Hornersville.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at the United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jeff Long and Jim Pemberton officiating.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Hornersville or the First United Methodist Church in New Madrid.

Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid is in charge of arrangements.
