Born April 19, 1931, in Lake City, Ark., son of the late Lugo and Rosea Belle Byrd Young, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a farmer and a member of the Bakerville Church of Christ.
On Nov. 7, 1954, he married Geneva Strother, who survives.
Survivors also include his in-laws, Etolla and Bradley Benson, Award Junior and Pat Strother, Shirley and Freddie Rutledge, Jimmie and Linda Strother, Irene and George Jordan and Larry and Ruth Strother; five nieces, Sue Reed, Ruth Wilke, Faye Jones, Karen Sowell and Kay Hoxworth and two nephews, Wayne and Harold Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Blen, Freeman, Bill, John and Delbert Young and four sisters, Jewell Miller, Vaudine Johnson, Mona Young and Mary Belle Young.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with James Powell and Mark Jordan officiating.
Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Mike Strother, David Jordan, Marc Blankenship, Harold and Ronald Young, Kelvin Wilke and Steven Young.
