Virgie L. Hastings, 76, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 10, 1930, in Cauthersville, daughter of the late Charles Albert and Bertha May Smith Lee, she was employed at Brown Shoe Company and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On July 16, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., she married Raymond Hastings, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence and Charles Lee and Leonard Hosey and two sisters, Alma Baggett and Eutha Reno.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Sue McGuinness and husband, Jim, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Rita Jean Cole and husband, Chuck, of Kennett; one sister, Bea Smith, of Caruthersville; one brother, Kenneth Lee, of Caruthersville; four grandchildren, Anthony Brent Glass, of Grapevine, Texas, Crisen Cole Hounihan, of Jackson, Mo., Kim Littrell, of Caruthersville and Charles Cole II, of Kennett; six great-grandchildren, Justin and Kymber Tyler, Brendee Chisty, Fontaine Lemieux, Charlee Hounihan and Emma Cole and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Craig Hounihan, Anthony "Brent" Glass, Charles Cole II, Steve Kuykendall, Ronnie Keith and John Reno.
