J.W. "Dub" Powell, 81, of Hornersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 29, 1926, in Fulton, Miss., he was the son of the late Augustus and Cara Lee Pearson Powell.
On Aug. 22, 1950, in Piggott, Ark., he married Velma Rooks who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Jimmie Powell and wife, Vicki, of Jackson, Tenn., and Michael Powell and wife, Marilyn, of Steele, Mo.; one daughter, Barbara Humphrey, of Hornersville; three brothers, James H. Powell, of Hornersville, Harold Powell, of Senath, Mo., and Maxwell Oneal Powell, of Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Forester, of Alabama and Helen Albert, of Columbia; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Russell Powell; two brothers, Alvin and Emmett Powell and two sisters, Meralene and Rubel.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Harrison officiating.
Burial will follow in the Horner Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kevin Wicker, Donny Cook, Marty Cloud, Roy Rooks, W.D. Hargrove and John Edmonston III.
Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Wallace and James Blackwell.
