Mary Belle Atwood, 93, of Hayti, Mo., formerly of Wardell, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Hayti.
Born Nov. 28, 1913, in Enid, Okla., daughter of the late Enos and Pearl Price Hatley, she was an Avon lady and was employed at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti. She was a member of the Wardell Baptist Church.
On July 28, 1934, in Portageville, Mo., sh married Lawrence Atwood, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one son, Col. Daryl Atwood; two sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Sue Turnage, of Hayti; a daughter-in-law, Starr Atwood, of Litle Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren, Johnna Sue McCrary, of Hayti, Chris Turnage, of Dyersburg, Tenn., Larry Atwood, of Crossett, Ark., and Thesa Roepke, of Santa Maria, Calif., and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, at the First Baptist Church in Wardell with Bro. Griff Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Wardell Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Turnage, Larry Atwood, David Knight, Michael Hatley, Timmy McCrary and Thomas Folz.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
