George Shearer, 76, of Kennett, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born April 21, 1931, in Bald Knob, Ark., son of the late C.B. and Wilma McLester Shearer, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean conflict; he was a medical technologist at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center at Kennett, and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church

On December 22, 1956, he married Betty Martin, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Keith Shearer and wife, Lana, of Qulin, Mo.; two daughters, Linda Bohnert of Kennett, and Sandra DeMent and husband, Stephen, of Rector, Ark.; one brother, Ben Shearer and wife, Fleda, of Wilburn, Ark.; a sister, Maggie Jean Douglas and husband, Bob, of Heber Springs, Ark.; five grandchildren, Alan-Michael and Maci Shearer, Stephanie and Amy DeMent and Alex Bohnert.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the McDaniel Funeral Home at Kennett.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverands Gene Lancaster and Chris Maynard officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Gerald Burton, Larry Hartsell, Ricky Burdin, Joe Lewellyng, C.E. Lemonds and Darrell Wheeler.

Honorary pallbearers were Larry Herrin, Elton Patterson, Pete Samples, Gene Watts, Herman Evans, Dean Tucker, Tommy Masterson, Charles Anderson, James Warrington and Ron Cuff.
