Ruth Hampton Stewart, 98, of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at Malden.
Born June 12, 1909, in Malden, daughter of the late Felix Hampton Sr., and Fletie Utley Hampton, she was owner/operator of a day care. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden, the Hopkins Extension Club, and the United Methodist Women Association.
On Dec. 22, 1927, in Bloomfield, Mo., she married W.C. "Bill" Stewart, who preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1985. She was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Herbert, Fred, Victor, Walter, David, Felix, Jr., Wyman "Jim" and Clarence in infancy and two sisters, Mattie Green and Helen Shelton.
Survivors include one son, William D. "Bill" Stewart and wife, Jeanie, of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Floyd "Sodie" Hampton, of Malden; one sister, Maxine Jewett, of Dexter, Mo.; three grandchildren, Dr. Don R. Stewart, of Forth Worth, Texas, Dr. Angela R. Stewart, of Columbia and Teresa J. Stewart, of Mission, Kan., and five great-grandchildren, Justin and Elizabeth Ehrhardt and Luke, Eleanor and Zora Stewart-Jones.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Landess Funeral Home in Malden,
Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Dowler officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
