Gertrude "Moma Gert" Borders, 74, of Hayti, Mo, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born Dec. 31, 1932, in Crawfordsville, Miss., daughter of the late Frank and Alice Borders. She was a housekeeper at Drury Inn and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hayti Heights.
Survivors include her children, Leroy, Reggie, Jerry and wife, Cora, Keith and Lakwayna and husband, Kelvin, all of Hayti, Quenna and Neiwah and wife, Valerie, all of Jonesboro, Ark., Betty and husband, Alvin, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Thelma, Juan and Lorenzo, all of Elkhart, Ind., Kelly Ruth, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Larry and wife, Rose, of St. Louis, Mo.; five brothers, Bobby, Robert, Terry, Theodore and wife, Eula, and Freddie and 65 grandchildren
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Borders, Sr., and five children.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Hayti with the Rev. Tony Jefferson officiating.
Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Rickey, Donald, Freddie, Talley and Carlos Borders and James Smith.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
