Born Dec. 11, 1929, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late Elbert and Gracie Cosey Rees, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea. He was a barber, auctioneer and he also trained horses and dogs.
On Aug. 24, 1952, he married Phyllis Rose Floyd, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, Ray Rees, Jr., and wife, Millie, of Fulton, Mo., and Jeff Rees and Rodney Rees and wife, Brenda, all of Montgomery City; three brothers, Don Rees and wife, Juanita and Carroll Rees and wife, Shelby, all of Jackson, Mo., and Bob Rees, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four grandchildren, Mike Rees, of Fulton, Logan Grace Rees, of Montgomery City, Cory Ross Rees, of Bellflower, Mo., and Kasey Lynn Rees, of Piggott, Ark., and one great-grandson, Jasper Ray Rees, of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Dorothy and an infant great-granddaughter, Audrey Joan Rees.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with the Rev. David Knight officiating.
Burial with military honors was held in the Bethel Cemetery at Montgomery City.
Pallbearers were Jeff, Mike and Rodney Rees, Steve Rogers, Harrison Burts and Ray Rees, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Logan Rees and Jim Craven.
