Mary Lou Hamlett, 84, of Elberta, Ala., formerly of Steele, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007.
Born April 7, 1923, in Steele, Mo., daughter of the late James and Georgia Hampton Easley; she was employed at Brown Shoe company in Caruthersville and was a member of the Church of Christ in Foley, Ala.
She married Rayburn Franklin Hamlett, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Easley and a son-in-law, Emile Peter Brettel.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Hamlett Brettel, of Elberta, Ala.; three sisters, Tommie Parker and Roberta Middleton, both of Caruthersville, Mo., and Nellie Jeter, of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Everett Easley, of St. Genevieve, Mo., and James Adams, of Rockford, Ill.; three grandchildren, Cheryl Kern, of Daphne, Ala., Stephen Brettel, of Waveland, Miss., and Karen Bennett, of Montgomery, Ala.; five great-grand-children, Adeva Wilson, Trevor Holt, Matthew and Hanna Bennett and Ryan Brettel and two great-great-grandchildren, Tristan and Braden Wilson.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Kevin, Aaron and David House, Tim Adams, Stephen Brettel and Lee Middleton.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
