Interesting quotes and stuff

Saturday, August 18, 2007
I read some interesting items this week and made note of them.

One thing I read was a riddle that Albert Einstein supposedly wrote. Here it is, see if you can figure it out.

A man encountered a bear in a wasteland. There was no one else there. Both were frightened and ran away.

The man ran to the north. The bear ran to the west. Suddenly the man stopped, aimed his gun to the south and shot the bear. What color was the bear?

Another item I read was this, a quote from someone and I do not know who: Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable.

And this: There are two things wrong with lawyer jokes. First, lawyers do not think they're funny. Second, no one else thinks they're jokes.

Hillary Clinton, a Democratic presidential candidate, was shown on The Daily Show last week displaying typical political and lawyer speech. Host Jon Daily showed a clip of Clinton raking President Bush's administration over the coals for not being forthcoming in releasing information the Senate requested. She described his administration something like the most reluctant ever to release information.

Ironically, Clinton is refusing to release more than two million pages of her documents related to her time as First Lady.

Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black to me. Sounds like a politician. Sounds like a lawyer.

What a politician "chooses" to say would not be quite so unpalatable if he would simply choose to speak the truth. Don't look for that to happen!

What about the riddle? Figure it out? The bear must have been white and the man must have been standing on the North Pole.

Are there bears at the North Pole?
