Glenda Mayola Hays, 86, of DeSoto, Mo., formerly of Qulin, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at her residence.
Born Sept. 14, 1920, in Qulin, daughter of the late Elvie Cletus and Laura Summers Pendergrass, she was a nurses aid, a cook at Qulin Elementary and a homemaker. She was a member and secretary of the Qulin Untied Methodist Church.
On May 9, 1952, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., she married Julius C. Hays, who preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2001. She was also preceded in death by four brother and two daughters-in-law.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny L. Hays and wife, Charlotte, of Poplar Bluff and Stephen J. Hays and wife, Delma, of DeSoto; one daughter, Ronda L. Smith and husband, David, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three sisters, Loraine Taylor, of Farmington, Mo., and Lillian Love and Nadine Rainey, both of Maryland Heights, Mo.; two brothers, Scotty Pendergrass, of Wappapello, Mo., and Raymond Pendergrass, of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren, Russell, David Hays and wife, Amy, James, Kevin and Laura Hays, Robert Stanley, Angela Spence and husband, Rick, Mark Finocchiaro, Jr., and Tiffany Johnson and husband, Christopher and five great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Timothy, Amber, Jacob and Tyler.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell, Mo., with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Burial was in the Qulin Cemetery.
