Born June 13, 1924, in Kings Mountain, N.C., son of the late William Lester Watterson, He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII. He worked for the U.S. government and Globe Clothing Store. He was a member of the American Legion Post 88 and First Presbyterian Church.
On Dec. 7, 1962, in Caruthersville, he married Mellie Bryant Sales, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Ron Sales, of Kingston, Tenn., and Jim Sales, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; one daughter, Linda Curtis, of Caruthersville; one sister, Laura White, of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Buster and Ersten Watterson and one grandchild, Amy.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dr. Kirwin Stewart and Rev. Dr. Paul Currie officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.
