Prentis Earl, 91, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born Nov. 9, 1915, in Hines County, Miss., son of the late William and Sally Clayton Earl, he was a truck driver and a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist church in Hayti.
On Feb. 17, 1938, in Webb, Miss., he married Virginia Allen, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2006. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lena Earl Lawrence and nine brothers and sisters, Gotha, Willie, Junior Elmore, Edna. Arthur, Eugene, Ollie, Dora and Flora.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie Earl, Sr. and wife, Carol, of Caseyville, Ill., and Prentis Earl, Jr. and wife, Kathy, of Lenexa, Kan.; three daughters, Gladys and Edna Earl and Emma Gilmer, all of Hayti; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Hayti.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at the St. James Outreach Church with Dr. Ron Webb officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers are Corey Lawrence, Robert Woods, Prentis Earl III, Sam Thomas, Brandon Johnson and Kenney Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Earl, Sr., Prentis Earl, Jr., Willie Allen, J.C. Allen, Sam Thomas and Orlando Earl.
