Born Nov. 6, 1944, in Dyersburg, Tenn., son of the late Mary Thomas, he was a U.S. Army veteran and was also employed by the police department. He was a member of True Believers in Poplar Bluff.
On Jan. 10, 2004, in Dyersburg, he married Sharon Bryant, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Eddie Thomas, Jr., of Oklahoma and John Thomas, of Toledo, Ohio; one daughter, Jerusa Thomas, of Toledo; one step-son, Samuel Ogarmon, of Hayti, Mo.; four step-daughters, Viola Bryant, Donna Auston and Vanessa Yarver, all of Dyersburg and Margaret Cummings, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two brothers, Nathan Thomas and wife, Katherine, of Detroit, Mich., and Freddie Lewis Mans, of Toledo and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Community Temple church of God in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5, at the Community Temple Church of God in Christ with Pastor Johnnie Williams and Bishop Robinson officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
