Norman Eugene Oxley, 83, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday, July 30, 2007, at his residence.

Born June 20, 1924, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late Logan Norman and Norma Della Elder Oxley, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII. He was a barber, Chief of Police for the city of Campbell, employed by Rowe Furniture, and was of the Baptist faith.

On June 12, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Dessie Lee Swinney, who survives.

Survivors also include six children, Judy Kay Altman, Larry Eugene and Dickie Ray Oxley, all of Poplar Bluff, Jerry Vaughn Oxley, of Seymour, Mo., Gloria Ann Nash, of Doniphan, Mo., and Nancy Lee Ray, of Warrensburg, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Freeman.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Gilberto officiating.

Burial will follow in the City Cemetery at Poplar Bluff.
