Born Sept. 14, 1932, at Lepanto, Ark., son of the late Kernel and Edna Pinkston, he was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Korean Conflict.
On June 19, 1987, he married Mary Jo Johnson, who survives the home.
Survivors also include three daughters, Debra Songer and husband, James, of Toledo, Ill., Valerie King of Tyler, Tex., and Gwen Fleury and husband, Mike, of Ft. Hood, Tex.; two step-daughters, Marilyn Dye and husband, Lale, of Wappapello, Mo., and Brenda Stewart and husband, Tim, of Baton Rouge, La.; two brothers, Tommy and Mickey Pinkston both of Texas; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Francis Pendergrast, Mildred Holmes, Loretta Lonwett Powers and Sonja Pinkston.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, July 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Jerry Williams officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Lale Dye, Dennis and Dale Pendergrast, Ronnie Zoleman, Mike Gozell, and Vernon Lowe.
