W.R. "Raymond" Windham, 89, of Wardell, Mo., died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Aug. 18, 1917, in Saline County, Ark., son of the late Page and Lula Hyatt Windham, he was a farmer and a member of the Wardell Baptist Church.
On Sept. 6, 1937, in Oppelo, Ark., he married Deva Lorene hale, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2005. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Page, Jr., Olin and Dub Windham.
Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette Crowder, of Caruthersville, Mo.; one son, Gene Windham and wife, Linda, of Wardell; one brother, W.K. Windham, of Portageville, MO.; one sister, Flola Rehm, of Morrilton, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Claudette Crowder Dropp, of St. Charles, Mo., Eugenia Boyer, of Holland, Ohio, Tom Crowder, of Hayti, Mo., Bill Crowder, of Steele, Mo., Regena Leonard, of Portageville, Mo., Connie Hastings, of Kewanee, Mo., and Cindy Hampton, Tina Clark and Gene Windham, Jr., all of Wardell and 15 great-grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Stephan, Chelsea, Nathaniel, Cole, John Chris, J.R., Tommy, Kyle, Wally, Hannah, Layton, Trae and Bethany.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Griff Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Wardell Fire Department members, Ralph Tanner, Jim Barron, Dewayne Schaal, Jamie Palmer, Danny Hensley and Terry Peeler.
Honorary pallbearers were Tony Watkins, Danny Glass, Raymond Tanner, Norris Watkins and Roger Gribble.
