Christina Landess Beall, 92, of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at Malden Nursing Center in Malden, Mo.
Born Oct. 3, 1914, in Holcomb, Mo., daughter of the late Richard Lonzo and Mary Arcina White Martin, she was a graduate of Holcomb High School, received her teaching certificate from State Teacher's College at Cape Girardeau, Mo., elected secretary of the Missouri Delegation in Chicago, graduated from Hohenochoeh Carpenter College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, appointed by Governor Phil Donnelly as first woman in the United States as a member of the Missouri State Board of Embalming and was elected first female president of Southeast Missouri Funeral Directors Association. She was a funeral director, embalmer and owner of Landess Funeral Home in Malden and Campbell, a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell, member of the Chalk Bluff DAR, served on the National Women's Democratic Club and was inducted in the Hall of Honor in 2004 in Kennett.
On June 27, 1938, in Piggott, Ark., she married Robert Landess. She later married Richard Van Beall, on May 18, 1954, in Clovis, N.M.. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1993.
Survivors include many loved ones and friends.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with James Powell officiating.
There will be a private burial service.
