Charlie Adaway, Sr., 71, of Kennett, died Friday, June 8, 2007, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Feb. 15, 1936, in Turrell, Ark., son of the late Howard and Rosie Hall Adaway, he was a farm laborer and a member of the Community Temple Church of God In Christ in Kennett.
On Dec. 22, 1956, in Little Rock, Ark., he married Coraine Clark, who survives.
Survivors also include six sons, Charlie Adaway, Jr., and wife, Mattie, David Lee Adaway Sr., Johnny Adaway Sr., and wife, Teresa, Ron Adaway Sr., and wife, Timbra and Sharun Adaway Sr., all of Kennett and Slyvester Adaway and wife, Kayla, of Jonesboro; three daughters, Mildred Adaway, of Jonesboro and Diann and Bobbie Adaway, both of Kennett; two brothers, Roy Adaway and wife, Betty, of Minneapolis, Minn., and L.C. Calhoun, of Tunica, Miss.; 33 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John Adaway and three grandchildren, Charlie Adaway III, David Adaway Jr., and Christopher Adaway.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, June 15, at the Community Temple Church of God In Christ in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 15, at the Community Temple Church of God In Christ with Pastor Ron Adaway and Bishop D.L. Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Willoughby Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Larry, Ron Jr., Jermaine, and Jerome Adaway, O'Brien Jones and Jonathan Wilkerson.
Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Jr., Johnny Sr., Sharun Sr., Ron Sr., Slyvester and David Adaway.
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Kennett is in charge of arrangements.
