Gladys "Sally" McClain, 79, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, May 22, 207, at National HealthCare in Kennett.
Born Sept. 5, 1927, in Savannah, Tenn., daughter of the late Rufus Cecil and Martha Mae Henson Ward, she was a nurse's aide at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital, a homemaker for VNA and worked at Moore's Dollar Store. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Hayti.
On Aug. 12, 1946, in Corinth, Miss., she married Tolbert McClain, who preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2001. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include six children, Wanda Slater and Kenny McClain, both of Porterville, Calif., Shirley Wege and husband, Bob, of Abilene, Kan., Billy McClain and wife, Reba, of Olathe, Kan., Faye Cara, of Memphis, Tenn., and Charles Allen McClain, of Hayti; one brother, Billy Ward, of Payneway, Ark.; four sisters, Edith Shuburte, of Trumann, Ark., Polly Carter, of Park, Kan., Betty Anderson, of Harrisburg, Ark., and Pauline McNutt, of Wichita, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 25, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Bro. Kenny Ford officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlwn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Tommy Turnbow, Kirk Carden, Chad and David McClain, Bob Wege and Jimmy Barron.
