Joyce June Johnson Holifield

Joyce June Johnson Holifield, the daughter of Ode and Ethel Doherty Johnson, was born September 21, 1933. She passed May 24, 2007.

On June 13, 1955 she married the love of her life, Bill Holifield, who survives.

She is also survived by her children, Jack Holifield of Kennett, Greg Holifield of Sikeston, Donna Montgomery and her husband, Jamie of Senath and Christy Lynn and her husband, Dennis, of Octa; two daughters-in-law: Shelia Holifield and Debra Holifield; one brother, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Diane; two sisters-in-law: Jearline Davis and Juvera McKelvey; one brother-in-law Butch Tackeberry; eight grandchildren: Amy and Stephanie Holifield, Leah Barr and her husband Carl, Jason Lynn and his wife Lesley, Aaron Lynn, Scotty and Holly Montgomery and Will Holifield; two great-granddaughters: Madisyn Wilburn and Melanie Barr; also Tom and Margurite Chandler, Joe Chandler and Diane Brockmeir and family; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ode and Ethel Johnson; her mother and father-in-law, W.H. "Doc" and Vivian Holifield; two sisters, Rose Tackeberry and an infant sister; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Mae Harden and Kitty Holifield; and her niece, Tracey Johnson.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Senath United Methodist Church, Senath, Mo., with the Rev. Gene Speight and Rev. Jim Pemberton officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett, Mo.

Pallbearers were Jason Lynn, Aaron Lynn, Scotty Montgomery, Will Holifield, Ken Johnson, Skip Tackeberry, Sam Williams and Joe Chandler.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeff DeWitt, Mike Estes, Bill Rupp, Hubert Snipes, John Gamble, John Henry Stephens, Patrick McHaney, Verlon Phelps, Charles Parker, David Harris, Dennis Crim, Gary DeWitt, Kent Montgomery, Howard Eldridge, Jerry Adams, Randy Smith, Don Wallace, Al Purvis, Tom Johnson, Jamie Johnson, Cum-Join-Us Sunday School class, A.L. Kelley, Tim Deck, Keith Milligan and Allen Brewer.

The family suggests memorials be made to: Senath United Methodist Church, Senath, Mo.; Senath Cemetery, Senath, Mo. or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
