Mary Louise "Marilou" Milburn Jones, 80, of Kennett, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Heritage Nursing Center after an extended illness.
Born on Jan. 7, 1927, in Kennett, she was the only child of the late Louise Liggett Milburn and Burl West Milburn. Mary Louise grew up in Kennett and graduated from Kennett High School in 1944. Marilou attend Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. and the University of Missouri in Columbia where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sorority.
Mary Louise and Jack Merideth were married in December, 1947. Marilou later married Bob Jones in April, 1972.
Her career as a legal secretary began at the Bradley Law Firm. She later worked at the Jones and Stillman Law Firm until her retirement.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, May 17, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett. Services will be held in the chapel at 10 a.m., Friday, May 18 with Chris Maynard officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Campbell, Eric Campbell, Glen Harris, Langdon Robert Jones III, Bradford W. Wood and Alex Napier. Honorary pallbearers will be John Nichols, Langdon E. Jones, John McMullan and Fred Singleton.
Marilou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Jones and longtime friends, Mary Jean Merideth, Carolyn Workman and Elberta Ford.
Survivors include her first cousins and their families: Dorothy Buczskowski, husband, Ed, of Little Rock, Ark., and their children, Laura B. Daven (Tim), of Little Rock and John Buczskowski (Tonya), of Eagle River, Ark., Carol A. Campbell, of Kennett and her children, Tommy Campbell and Eric Campbell, of Kennett, Judith L. Bradley, of Kansas City, Mo., and her niece, Jane D. Lewis (David), of Chattanooga, Tenn., and nephew John B. Daffron, of Memphis, Tenn., brother-in-law, Langdon E. Jones, of Kennett, and sister-in-law, Martha Southern, and husband, Beckham, of Hot Springs, Ark.
Marilou will be remembered by numerous relatives from her marriage to Bob Jones: son, Langdon R. Jones II, of North Little Rock, Ark., and his children, Lillith J. Dugas, of Bryant, Ark., Langdon R. Jones III and Quinton Jones, of Mesquite, Texas; son, Mike Jones, of Lakeland, Fla., and his children, Laurabeth Jones, of Plano, Texas, Michael Jones, of Charleston, Mo.; daughter, Lauranne J. Wood, of Lakeland, Fla., and her son, Bradford Wood, EM3 U.S. Coast Guard, Milwaukee, Wis.; daughter Pat J. Yankouski, of Smyrna, Ga., and her children, Claire G. Little, of Arlington, Tenn., and Kate Goshorn, Bar Harbor, Maine; niece, Karen J. Nichols, husband, John, of Kennett and her son, Alex Napier, of Hernando, Miss.; niece, Pam J. Mercier, husband, Jules and son, Jay Mercier, of Kennett; nephew, Byron Southern (Linda), of Little Rock, Ark.; niece, Christie Huffstutler (Morris), of Kennett and niece, Terry Lynn Hanners (Bart), of Brunswick, Tenn.
