Vera Williams

Vera Williams, 98, of Kennett, died Monday, May 7, 2007, at National HealthCare in Kennett.

Born Aug. 17, 1908, in Carbon Hill, Ala., daughter of the late Robert and Dona Frost Wright, she was a homemaker and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

On May 15, 1926, in Lepanto, Ark., she married Charlie Williams, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1983. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Jr., Billy and Jerry Williams; two daughters, Lois and Betty Williams; two sisters, Lear and Dora Wright; seven brothers, Manuel, Earl, Alford, Ed, Robert, A.C. and Alonzo Wright and a son-in-law, Bill Pender.

Survivors include four daughters, Sally Pender, of Springfield, Mo., Bobbie Miller and husband, Bud, of Kennett, Peggy Smith, of St. Charles, Mo., and Brenda Hufker and husband, Jerry, of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Aubert Wright, of Lubbock, Texas; three sisters, Girldene Wiggins, of Morton, Texas, Dorothy Whitley and Lucille Plunkett, both of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Thursday, May 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Dale Rickman and Chris Maynard officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
