Jackie Robinson Bowens, 55, of Caruthersville, Mo., died April 12, 2007.

Born Aug. 5, 1951, in Caruthersville, son of the late Lewis And Myrtle Bowens, he attended Washington High School and was a member of the Greater Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Versey, of Caruthersville and Loreen Thomas, of Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Esker Bowens, of Chicago, Ill., and Joe Willie Bowens, of Poplar Buff, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. James Bowens, Jr. officiating.

Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Nephews served as pallbearers.
