Born June 29, 1935, in Batesville, Miss., son of the late George Fondren and Lena Calcutt, he was a member of Church on the Rock in Morehouse, Mo.
On Aug. 8, 1984, in St. Louis, Mo., he married Martha Bills, who survivors.
Survivors also include three sons, Bernard and Alonzo Sykes, both of E. St. Louis, Ill., and Fernando Calcutt, of Centralia, Ill.; seven daughters, Charlene Robinson, Consqiulla and Terranezillie Calcutt, Veronica Nelson, all of E. St. Louis, Brenda Bills, of Portageville, Mo., Lisa Johnson and husband, Willie, of Sikeston, Mo., and Melinda Howell and husband, James, of Parma; brothers and sisters, Mary, George and Russell Fondren and Wesley Butler, all of Batesville, Barbara Tarham, of Greenville, Miss., Louise Brown, Katie Bonner and husband, Esau and Freida Bills and husband, Eddie and Mary Louise Jemerson, all of Parma, Marie Bills and husband, Robert, of Gary, Ind., David and Jack Fondren, both of Memphis, Tenn., and Mike Fondren, of New Orleans, La., and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Timmie and Ronnie Bills and one sister, Katherine Fondren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 19, in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden with Elder Willie Johnson officiating.
