Virginia Lee (Ginny) May, 82, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Jackson, Tenn.

Born Oct. 29, 1924, in Portageville, Mo., daughter of the late John L. and Hazel Workman James, she was a teacher at Lee Rood School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

In October, 1946, she married Harry Kemp May, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Survivors include one son, John May and wife, Sue Ellen, of Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Kemp Boyd, of Jackson, Susan "Koko" Holt and husband, Bubba, of Germantown, Tenn., and Harriett Smith, of Cordova, Tenn., and seven grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas May, Ginny Boyd Hatch, Matt Holt, and Abbie, Andy and Katie Smith.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, at the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, with Rev. Dr. Kirwin Stewart and Rev. Dr. Paul Currie officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Nicholas and Christopher May, Bubba and Matt Holt, Tim Hatch and Steve Roten.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
