Lemond Thompson

Lemond Walter Thompson, 84, of Steele, Mo., died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Feb. 6, 1923, in Pemiscot County, Mo., son of the late Walter and Zubie Baxter Thompson, he was a farmer, a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele and he also served on the South Pemiscot School Board.

He married Peggy Marie Cooper, who preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2002. On Aug. 2, 2005, he married Beulah Mae Hardesty, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, George Allan and Richard Lee Thompson; one daughter, Teresa Nan Jones; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, April 11, at the First Baptist Church in Steele with the Rev. Mike Funderburk officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
