Rebecca Mearle "Beckie" Pinion, 85, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.
Born November 23, 1921 at Gipson, Tenn., daughter of the late Claude and Lena Marie Neil Childress, she was a graduate of Yorkville High School in Yorkville, Tenn., owned and operated the Caruthersville Flower Shop, and was a member of Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 12, 1958 she married Joe. D. Pinion, who preceded her in death on June 25, 1970. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William M. "Bill" Childress, and a sister, Helen Neil Smith.
She is survived by three children, Joe D. Pinion, Jr., and wife, Mary Francis, of Tupelo, Miss.; Melodie Avery and Tanna Kay Carmean of Caruthersville; three grandchildren, Jennifer Jean Thorton of Tupelo, Miss., Patrick Dayton Rhodes of Raleigh, N.C., and Rebecca Joe Jelly of Madison, Miss.; two sisters, Claudine Bishop of Caruthersville and Corinne McCrary Still of Wynnburg, Tenn.; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 6, at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville with Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Dr. Barry Thorton, Patrick Rhodes, Mike Byrd, Fred Russell, Alan Newman, Joe Neil VanCleve and Phillip Childress.
John W. German Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
