Verlon V. Black, 81, of Steele, Mo., formerly of Clarkton, Mo., died Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center at Kennett.

Born March 20, 1926, in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Minnie Frances Allison Black. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Ralph, Carrol, Cecil and Arnold Black; and three sisters, Mamie Cook, Lee Hagen and Juanita Rainwater.

He is survived by four sisters-in-law, Louise Black of Clarkton, Mo., Ida Black of Redding, Calif., Aline Black of Malden, Mo. and Anna Mae Black of Atkins, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 7 p.m. today, Sunday, April 1, 2007, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home at Malden.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
