Martha Bean Spain, 83, of Clarkton, Mo., died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Feb. 24, 1924, in Perry County, Ark., daughter of the late William Edward and Hattie Mae Lott Bean, she was a member of the Holcomb Church of Christ.

On Dec. 26, 1942, in Perry County, she married George Spain, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Spain; three brothers, William, and Robert Bean and James Plunkett; an infant sister and two half-sisters, Addie Brown and Laura Mae "Ruby" Tarkington.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry Spain, of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Jimmie Spain, of St. Peters, Mo., Danny Spain, of Sikeston, Mo., and Eddie Spain, of Portageville, Mo.; one daughter, Sharon Lindley, of Gideon, Mo.; one brother, John Lott, of Williamsville, Mo.; one sister, Myrtle Bumpuss, of Clarkton, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., today, Thursday, March 29, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 30, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.

Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton.
