Bertha M. Pierce, 102, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Naylor, Clarkton and Sikeston, Mo., died Monday, March 26, 2007 at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
Born Dec. 23, 1904, in Naylor, Mo., daughter of the late Zack Marvin Jenkins and Viola Morton Jenkins, she graduated from high school at Doniphan, Mo. She was a teacher and principal at Neelyville, Naylor, Marston and Clarkton and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cape Girardeau and the Sikeston Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Maxine McMahon, of Clarkton; two sisters, Melba McCord and Olivia McClure Moll, both of Sikeston; six step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Blanche Kennedy; two brothers, Glenn and Denver; five infant siblings and a step-son, Norman Pierce.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 29, at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau with Rev. Paul Kabo and Rev. Dr. Tom Bass officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel.
Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park.
