Walter Hourd, Sr., 84, of Kennett, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Born April 8, 1922, in Moscow, Tenn., son of the late Alex and Maggie Williams Hourd, he was employed at Parker-Hanifin.
On Sept. 20, 1939, he married Lillie Mae Flood, who preceded him in death on July 14, 1989. He was also preceded in death by one son, Eddie Eugene Hourd and one brother, James Green.
Survivors include three sons, Walter Hourd, Jr., and Charles Edward Hourd, both of Kennett and John Arthur Hourd, of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters, Charlie Mae Alford, of Kennett, Stella Louise Hourd-Benamaisia, of Boston, Mass., and Maggie Maxine Hourd-Bryant, of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Sunday, March 25, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Elder Mary Rose officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
