Katie Mae Overton, 83, of Kennett, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born Feb. 11, 1924, in Bolton, Miss., daughter of the late John and Corine Bailey, she was a member of the Northside Missionary Baptist Church and was involved with the Senior Companion Program.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Parker, of Kennett; 12 children, Willie James Overton and wife, Janie, and Cornelius Overton, of Chicago, Ill., L.A. Overton and wife, Bobbie, of Leland, Miss., Elijah Overton and wife, Gloria, Roosevelt Overton and wife, Janet and Roy Overton and wife, Barbara, all of Houston, Texas, Claretta, Essie, Corrine, Wallace and Robert Overton, all of Mobile, Ala., and C.B. Overton, of Los Angeles, Calif.; five sisters, Mary Ann Holmes, Alma Jean Baggett, Lucile Bailey, Ula Willis and Marie Rolling, all of Chicago; one brother, James Bailey, of Chicago and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Overton, jr.; and one son, J.C. Overton.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, March 26, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Pastor Mitcheal E. Chandler, Sr., officiating.
Burial will follow in the Willoughby Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Willie James, Cornelius, C.B., L.A., Roosevelt, Elijah and Roy Overton and Ronnie Miller.
Honorary pallbearers are Wallace and Robert Overton.
