Jack Abernathy, 83, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born May 3, 1923, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late John Alexander and Rado Poole Abernathy, he was a U.S. Army/Air Corps veteran, having served in WWII. He was employed with Barton Lumber Company and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Campbell.

On Nov. 16, 1946, in Rector, Ark., he married Hazel Cashion, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Steve Abernathy, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Keith Abernathy, of Bernie, Mo.; one daughter, Pam Buchanan, of Gideon, Mo.; one brother, Terry Abernathy, of Troy, Ill.; five grandchildren, John and Grey Abernathy, both of Jonesboro, Ark., Benjamin Buchanan, of Gideon and Sydney and Karsyn Abernathy, both of Bernie.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Revs. Dale Rickman and Steve Bricker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell.
