Virgie Younger
Virgie L. Gilmer-Younger's Sunrise was on Sept. 14, 1917, in Turrell, Ark. Sunset was God's will at 6:35 a.m., March 10, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. In 1933 Virgie confessed her faith in Christ at St. Matthews Church in Tyler, Mo. under the leadership of Rev. R.C. Thomas. She was a faithful member of the Northside Baptist Church where she served as the Sunday School Superintendent, church secretary, and was the choir soloist until her health began to fail her.

Virgie and Leonard Younger united in Holy Matrimony in 1953 and then moved to Bragg City. They both were occupied there as farmers. The family decided to move to Kennett, Mo. in 1983. her parents Fred and Jenny Gilmer, two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Leonard (Tee) Younger of Kennett, Mo., nine children, Ralph Gilmer, of Blytheville, Ark., Myrtle Younger, of St. Louis, Mo., Charles (Valerie) Shaw, of Chicago, Ill., Irene (Malcolm) Ross, of Chicago, Ill., Beverly (Brianne) Alford, of Kennett, Mo., Patra (Steve) Aiken, of Buffalo, New York, Dennis (Mallory) Younger, of Compton, Calif., Denise (Tosha) Johnson, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Annette (Alif) Williams, of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Beulah Wright, of Kennett, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Charity Stevenson, of Yazoo City, Miss.; four brothers, Jesse Gilmer, of Lincoln, Neb., John (Joyce) Gilmer, of Louisville, Ky., Hinton (Lillie) Gilmer, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lawrence Gilmer, of Kennett.

Her memory will also be cherished by her 30 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren, adopted children, Steve Davis, of Osceola, Ark., Belinda and Ben Worley, of Dexter, Mo., and Logan Hourd, of Kennett, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, March 17, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Karla Cooper officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
